In 2001, 20-year-old Lynsie Ekelund lives with her mother, Nancy; the two are incredibly close, and Nancy is Lynsie's primary caregiver after a car accident left one side of Lynsie's body partially paralyzed; one night in 2001, unbeknownst to her mother, Lynsie plans to travel to spring break hotspot San Diego for a night of clubbing with friends; when Lynsie doesn't arrive home the next day, her mom suspects something has gone horribly wrong.
